Volunteers make The Boatshop possible!
No special skills, experience or long-term commitment are necessary to be a volunteer. Whether you have two hours to give or want to get more involved, The Boatshop offers volunteers a way to help connect people of all ages to the Seacoast's maritime heritage through boatbuilding. We hope you'll join us!


The Gundalow Company's Piscataqua Riverfest is an annual celebration of our rivers and bays. The free event will take place Saturday, July 11, 10am-4pm on the grounds of Strawbery Banke. The Boatshop will be displaying two boats—the replica Piscataqua River Werry and a MerryMac sailboat—information about our camp programs, and will have

The Boatshop will be displaying two boats—the replica Piscataqua River Werry and a MerryMac sailboat—information about our camp programs, and will have a hands-on tool exploration station for children and families. No special skills or experience necessary.
Riverfest Time Slots:
Set up/Event Opening: 9-11am
Event Support: 11am-1pm; 1-3pm
Event Close/Breakdown: 3-5pm

Set up the mobile benches and camp materials in the pop-up workshop on Sunday afternoons before the start of each week of camp. No experience or special skills necessary.

Interact with and support/encourage campers as they learn to work with simple tools to build individual model sailboats (grades 2-5) and oars (grades 6-8).
